The water pump is the core component of the cooling system and is essential to the operation of the engine.  When the water pump fails, it will be shown as a phenomenon such as high water temperature and unstable water temperature indicator.  If it is ignored, the engine components may be damaged by overheating and even need overhaul.  Below, let's take a look at what causes the pump failure. 1. The water pump used in the truck engine is a centrifugal pump, which is composed of a shell, impeller, bearing, pump shaft, water seal and transmission pulley.  The water pump shell is made of cast iron or cast aluminum, and the wall of the cast iron shell is thick and the weight is large.  With the improvement of the lightweight requirements of the engine, the water pump with cast iron shell is still used on the large engine of some commercial trucks.  The impeller of the water pump is made of cast iron and other metals or engineering plastics, and adopts backward curved semi-arc, double-arc or multi-circular arc blades, whose blade shape is consistent with the direction of water flow, and the pumping efficiency is high. 2. The function of the water pump is to circulate the coolant from the engine to the cooling water tank, if the water pump leaks, it will cause the coolant to be too little and the engine temperature is too high;  If the pump is not working properly, the coolant can not flow in the engine for heat exchange, the engine heat can not be discharged, will make the engine temperature rise, the engine temperature is too high will reduce the oil lubrication capacity, resulting in increased wear and tear of the parts, the temperature will lead to the engine cylinder pulling or burning tile and other serious failures, and eventually lead to the engine scrap. First of all, we need to know that the pump is connected to the belt to draw cold water from the tank to cool the engine.  However, if the truck pump is damaged, it will certainly affect its rotational resistance.  Then after the truck starts, the engine speed will jump unstable.  When the resistance is very large (mostly in winter), there is likely to be a flameout
